Product Introduction

Initially the carpets began to be manufactured in Rajasthan when weavers from Afghanistan were installed in the royal ateliers in the 17th century. Gradually with the passage of time this art has been practiced in various parts of our country and the world. The earliest rugs were tapestries, embroidery, brocading, soumaks and kilims. The most common material for rugs and carpets has traditionally been sheep’s wool. But gradually silk, wool and goat hides were used for the purpose. With the introduction of modern technology, a few aspects of the rug making processes have been taken over by machine primarily to cut cost and time. With the play of exuberant colors and geometric motifs, the artisans revolutionized the Indian artwork depicting a perfect blend of modern techniques, heritage & design. The hand carved lines and rich blended color render a versatile artistic feeling in any environment. The more popular mechanical weaving styles are: - Wilton - Adaptation of the classic Jacquard system.
- Ax minster - Offers unlimited design possibilities by mimicking the hand-tufting method
